The Red Wings Never Stop Surprising

Just when I thought something had gone wrong in Detroit's front office they throw me a curveball and have me thinking once again that they probably are the smartest run franchise in the NHL.

Letting players to the likes of Hossa, Kopecky, Conklin and Hudler either leave the team or the league in general, had people like me scratching their head wondering why they'd let some core guys that were so key to their success go. Well that question was just answered for me in the form of Marian Hossa.

A rotator cuff injury likely sustained during this past years playoffs has lead him toward surgery that likely has him out until December at the earliest. It kind of makes me wonder why no member of the Blackhawks brass required Hossa to take a physical first. This also leads me to believe that Detroit may have known considering they made little effort to retain him.

Two thumbs up to the Red Wings on this one....
